Reiki and Stress

Surprisingly, stress is something that the body is built to deal with. In periods of stress your breathing speeds up, adrenalin pumps and your heart beats faster. It prepares you to deal with whatever conflict or situation you need to. It inhibits the parts of your body that aren�t needed, e.g. digestion.

The problem with stress happens when it goes on for too long. The list of symptoms is huge and it includes emotional and behavioural problems as well as the physical. It can make you forgetful, irritable and feeling out-of-control as well as tired, nauseous and tense. Migraines, strokes and immune system problems have also been linked to stress.

From a short-term point of view Reiki helps you �turn-off�. Even a single treatment relieves tension and muscle pain. With continued treatments, the Reiki energy sooths and eases the long-term effects of stress. Less strain is placed on your body and mind�s resources. Reiki can be more than just a pampering treatment!
